Gonjang Monastery is located about 6 km away from the heart of Gangtok town near Tashi View point. It is situated at 27.36908 latitude and 88.613314 at an altitude of 6066 feet. The monastery was established in the year 1981 and the founder is H.E. Tingkye Gonjang Rimpoche. Tingkye Gonjang Rimpoche. He was conceded as an incarnation of Yelmo Terton Ngakchang Shakya Zangpo, a 15th century Nyingma Terton. The monastery follows Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, however, the Bodhisattvas deities enshrine are different from the other Nyingma pa monastery and that is what it makes the monastery unique.

It's a very beautiful space in heart of nature. This place is located in the heart of mountains and view is awesome with beautiful skyline. You can easily see small kid monks playing and having fun in the midst of their lessons. Also, it's very peaceful you can spend quiet good time standing there watching the skyline if u love books then you can sit in the corner and enjoy the nature at its best. Not a place to go with kids since they will get bored.

A very beautiful place, it is a Buddhist monastery. The place is so quiet that you will feel a strange peace as long as you stay here. Buddhists pray inside the monastery which brings peace to our souls.

This is one of monastery in "Gangtok" with a clean and clear place. It is situated in part of "North Sikkim". It was established in year 1981. It is located about 6km away from the heart of "Gangtok" town. The monastery has Thadrol Dorjee Memorial Community Health Care Centre for providing medication to monks and the local people. Monastic education along with Tibetan language and English are taught to the monk students. It's shows the culture of the ancestors of people who lived here. The place is located on the hills so the view is also great to watch.
