  • Nathula,Tsongmo Lake, Baba Mandir

    The Nathu La Pass altitude is approximately 4310 m. It stands 54 km to the east of Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. A drive from Gangtok is the only way to reach the Pass.En route to the Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir is a hill that has the words “Mera Bharat Mahan” engraved on it.The road towards the Nathula Pass is one of the highest motorable roads in the world. It is richly surrounded with alpine flora. The road winding down the Chumbi valley can be seen on a clear day. Chinese soldiers on the other side of the barbed wire can be viewed from the international border.You need a permit from Gangtok to visit Nathu La and every Monday and tuesday Nathu la is closed for tourists.The most visited lake in Sikkim is the Tsomgo Lake in East Sikkim , the ethereally beautiful Tsomgo Lake is a must on every visitor’s itinerary. Embedded in steep and rugged mountain terrain, the lake is covered with snow cover from early winter to late spring.Rides on colourfully decorated yaks and mules are offered at the lake site.

Witness the aerial view of Gangtok and get enchanted by its surreal experience.The Himalayan Zoological Park is about 230 hectares of forest land, this zoo is placed at an altitude of 1,780 metres which offers a splendid view of snow mountains .Mammal species such as Himalayan Black Bears, Clouded Leopard, Snow Leopards, Common Leopard, Tibetan Wolfs, Leopard Cat, Himalayan Palm Civets, Gorals, Barking Deer, Large Indian Civets, Porcupine, Yaks are in the zoo.There are many Monasteries Enchey, Do Drul Chorten,Namgyal and famous temples like Hanuman Tok and Ganesh Tok are also tourist spots.

     Banjhakri waterfall which falls from a rocky height of about 40 feet and cascades down with a lot of force is the main attraction of the Energy Park present here. Beautifully landscaped gardens abound the waterfall.One of the most beautiful, pristine lakes in North Sikkim and 8 hours away from Gangtok is Gurudongmar lake which sits in close proximity to the Tibetan and Chinese border in the north. Nestled amidst the mountains at 5,183 meters, the freezing alpine lake is amongst the major sources of the river Teesta.Zero Point, is one of the most frequented tourist's places in Lachung. It is located about 15 km away from Yumthang and sits at a mind-numbing altitude of 4,724 meters or 15,500 feet high Zero point marks the edge of civilization but a beautiful Valley.One of the most significant and largest monasteries in Sikkim, Rumtek is perched on a hill overlooking Gangtok. it includes a beautiful shrine temple and a monastery for the monks. The shrine was established with a reason to spread the teachings of the Buddha throughout the world.Another spritual place is the famous Char Dham Temple in Namchi just 80 kms and 3 hours away from Gangtok.

    On a clear day, tourists can avail breathtaking sights of Mt Khangchendzonga and Mt Siniolchu, as well as the colourful villages of North Sikkim, from the Tashi Viewpoint.Sunsets are usually the best time to visit.Situated near Tashi View Point is the Bakthang Waterfalls.it is one of the excellent spots to visit in Gangtok and among the well known cascades in Gangtok. The falls begins from Ratey Chu, the principle water wellspring of Gangtok region. It falls down from the stone and shaping a little pool down underneath. In spite of the fact that the tallness of the fall isn't much, it is a superb sight to take photos.Very close to Tashi View Point is Gonjang Monastery.The monastery looks impressive from outside with a massive Buddha figure inside.

Good Time to Visit Gangtok is from Spetember to March.Best time being months of September and October , In October while going to Nathula you can also experience Snowfall.

Gangtok is just 4 to 5 hours by road from Bagdogra Aiport, Siliguri [if you come by train] and Darjeeling. Inside Gangtok you can pre-book Taxi or just walk around the main market area.
