  • Jaisalmer Fort,Patwon ki Haveli,Gadisar Lake,Vyas Sunset Point

    Known amongst the largest forts in the world, Jaisalmer fort is the most popular landmark of Jaisalmer city. Unlike other forts of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer fort houses museum, shops, restaurants, residential accommodations, hotels, etc. It is the only Living Fort in India and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Second most Popular is Patwon ki Haveli but is a combination of 5 different Havelis and made of yellow sandstone.The Gadsisar Lake,another attraction is an artifical Lake which was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first ruler of Jaisalmer. This historic lake is located towards the south of Jaisalmer city and the entrance to the lake is through Tilon-Ki-Pol, a magnificent and artistically carved yellow sandstone archway. The Tilon Ki Pol is adorned with an idol of the Hindu deity Lord Vishnu.

    Jaisalmer War Museum

    Jaisalmer War Museum is only 11 kms from the Main city.There are many Indian Army exhibits.It also has an Honour wall that has engraved the names of gallantry award winners of the Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra. Along with tanks, guns and military vehicles, the display has a repertoire of trophies and vintage equipment.Apart from this Camel Trekking in the sand dunes is an intresting Activity to be explored in the Golden City of Jaisalmer.

    Kuldhara Abandoned Village ,Desert National Park

    This village is dotted with hundreds of dilapidated sand stone houses and dusty roads, and the ruins of this village are said to be cursed and haunted. Salim Singh Prime Minister of Jaisalmer fell in love with a girl from this village and was threatening the village for her but 83 villages in the area decided to abandon the town to protect the girl’s honor, thus leaving their homes behind.Before they left the village, they cast a curse that no one could ever live in this village.Another good place is the Desert National Park ,gives a wonderful opportunity to see the wildlife such as camels, desert fox, Bengal fox, chinkara, wolves, desert cat, and the Blackbuck.

Best Time to Visit Jaisalmer is November to March since it is Winter Season and Desert Safari, Camel Rides and Outdoor Activities would be Fun. Other Months it will be very Hot .

Local Travel in Jaisalmer is possible through Taxis/Rickshaws as well as pre-booked Cars . Camel Trekking in the Thar Desert is a Fun Thing to do when in Jaisalmer.
