This museum contains the finds of archaeological digs around Ahar and the history of Rajasthan. The museum is divided into themed sections in each room. Each room has a description in Hindi and English. All the exhibits have at least a label, and a few will have a short description as well, again in Hindi and English. The exhibits are good, with the paintings gallery perhaps the best of the displays. This museum is adjacent to the royal cenotaphs of Ahar, so it’s worth combining the two into one visit.

One of the less known jewels at Udaipur, Ahar cenotaph is a gem in itself, having imbibed the history of the royal clan. The royal crematorium was exclusive for the royal blood, and contains mausoleums of generations, each sized as per the stature. Currently being restored, this is a private property, still owned by the royal family.
