It's a fantastic place to witness the old shipment canal and its water lock system in action. With frequent passage of boats, there are multiple pedestrian bridges and multiple lock chambers which allow one to easily and conveniently observe the boats being raised and lowered, all without you having to run into or struggle through the crowds of spectators. The banks of Saint-Martin canal are a popular destination for summertime lounging and picnics while watching the boats pass by, so don't forget your wicker and checkered blanket next time you are checking in in the warm time of the year. In the autumn, the colours are offering an additional layer of charm and complexity to the spectacle for you to enjoy.
