The Musée Jacquemart-André, owned by the Institut de France, presents collections of art that are worthy of great museums in a magnificent Second Empire mansion. Often compared to the Frick Collection in New York, it has maintained its mansion atmosphere, which makes it unique in Paris. This museum lets visitors discover 19th century living areas: ceremonial rooms, monumental stairways, winter garden, private apartments and more. Edouard André, a 19th century collector, and his wife Nélie Jacquemart, a renowned portrait artist, travelled across Europe and the East to acquire rare works of art and furniture. The collections are some of the most remarkable in France: works from Flemish and German schools, detached frescoes, refined furniture and tapestries also find their place on the ground floor of the house. But Nélie Jacquemart devoted most of her attention to the Renaissance period in Florence and Venice. In fact, the first floor is devoted to Italian art during this period.

One of my favorite museum in Paris and else where. Quite the opposite of Le Louvre. Small collection but with some great masterpieces, in particular 2 Rembrandts. The building by itself is worth the visit. Outside temporary exhibitions, the place is pretty quiet. It gets crowded when you get some star attractions like the upcoming Turner and Botticelli exhibitions later in 2020. One guard took us on a private visit commenting paintings in the left end wing. Highly recommended.

Really nice museum! Impressive small palace with spacious rooms and interesting art, very well conserved! Some Rembrandt's and a Van Dyck too. Interesting architecture with opened ceilings and a winter garden! Alana temporary collection was just ok...

Great temporary collection The Allana collection was a very nice collection to see, and it was great to be able to be close to the paintings Really inspiring to see those pieces connected to devotion and spirituality and a pure mind, it was refreshing Went on a rainy day, with a global strike taking place in the city so very few people were there, which I enjoyed too. If it gets crowded it may be more difficult to enjoy the museum as the spaces are pretty small. I think the collection will stay until january 2020
