A unique view of the Champs-Élysées, the world’s most beautiful avenue. The Arc de triomphe was begun in 1806, on the orders of Napoleon I to honour the victories of his Grande Armée. Inspired by the great arches of antiquity, this iconic monument bears the names of battles and generals from the Revolution and the First Empire. Every evening, the flame is lit on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the Great War. The terrace provides superb views both by day and night across the city and its great sweeping avenues.

It's a lot more impressive in person than the pictures do justice... You can go up to the top and there's a tunnel underneath that allows you into the arch. I missed this sight every other time I've been here and it's at the end of the street full of designer shops and restaurants. Definitely worth visiting due to its historical importance and grandeur.

Opened in 1836 as a victory monument for the Battle of Austerlitz, Arc de Triomphe is now one of the most well-known landmarks in Paris. Visitors can enjoy some great 360 degree views from the observation deck on its top. Getting there usually requires walking up lots of stairs, but handicapped and elderly visitors can also take a small elevator.

Had a really fun time going to the top of the arc. Definitely recommended, although just be ready for some tight spaces as you take the stairs up. Best part was getting to watch the cars maneuver around each other in the traffic circle with a birds eye view.

It’s a great short visit. You can climb to the top and check out a small room with some of the removed and restored pieces from outside, and the terrace which has an unbeatable view of the city. Kids under 18 are free which is nice (they asked one of our older children for a passport but just waved us in when it was clear we didn’t have it with us). Fabulous and well maintained monument with a lot of history.

Entry is free for EU students. We did not wait at all on queue. Fantastic 360 view. I would say it is much more impressive in person than on pictures. You will also be impressed with the city architecture and alignment, its really cool.
