It is separated from Panjim by the Rio de Ourém (River of Gold), whose junction with the Mandovi River here forms a large, wide, and marshy estuary. This estuary in traversed by an old causeway built in 1633 under the auspices of one of the viceroys of Portuguese India, the Count of Linhares, after whom it is named the Ponte Conde de Linhares. A new road to the south of Ponte Conde de Linhares provides one more link to Ribandar, Chimbel and Old Goa from Panjim. The islands of Chorão and Divar lie to the north and north-east of Ribandar respectively. The ferry wharf at Ribandar is one of the major means of transportation to these two islands.

Old Goa. Old Portuguese houses many requiring maintenance line up the roads. A beautiful area to wander about if you have time. Also a start point for ferry services to Divar island where you can use the ferry for free including a two wheeler and pay just Rs 7 for a four wheeler. Offers scenic views of back waters along the road.

This old GMC hospital location, is a real blast from the past, the entrance, stair ways, rooms, roofs, everything combined by the current art festival happening, really helps the modern generation to understand the past history we have!

Beautiful place to visit on a two wheeler.. the ride by ferry is a must do thing ! If you happen to like local produce - the cucumbers and kamrak (star fruit ) are something to be tasted for sure.
