This Art Deco house, surrounded by a beautifully lush garden, originally inhabited by David and Alice Van Buuren, exhibits a wide range of rare furniture, tapestries, glass frames, sculptures and paintings by international artists. Built in 1928 in Dutch Art Deco style, this residence combines the warmth of a home - that of banker and patron of arts David van Buuren and his spouse - with the richness of a museum. The Art Deco ensemble, elaborated down to the smallest detail, unveils beautiful antiques as well as an impressive collection of paintings by renowned artists from the 16th to the 20th century: Peter Brueghel the Elder's entourage, James Ensor, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Fantin-Latour, Constant Permeke and Gustave van de Woestijne among others. A magnificent garden surrounds the mansion and surely deserves more than a detour for its splendid Art Deco rose garden by Jule Buyssens, its Labyrinth or its romantic heart-shaped secret garden by René Pechère.

Wonderful art deco house in the leafy suburbs, would love to live in this house which was full of character. The gardens were really nice too, great way to spend a couple of hours. The design and style of the house is the star though, well worth a visit away from the tourist-heavy locations.

Absolutely stunning 1930's bankers residence, very stylish and artfully decorated, a gem in an otherwise bourgeois neighbourhood
