Manneken Pis is a landmark 61 cm bronze fountain sculpture in central Brussels, depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin. It was designed by Jérôme Duquesnoy the Elder, and put in place in 1618 or 1619. The current statue is a replica which dates from 1965. The original is kept in the Brussels City Museum. Manneken Pis is the best-known symbol of the people of Brussels. It also embodies their sense of humour (called zwanze in the dialect of Brussels) and their independence of mind. Manneken Pis is located only five minutes' walk from the Grand Place (Brussels' main square), at the junction of Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat and the pedestrian Rue de l'Étuve/Stoofstraat. This site is served by the premetro (underground tram) station Bourse/Beurs (on lines 3 and 4) and the bus stops Grand Place/Grote Markt and Cesar de Paepe.

For me it's one of the most over rated thing I have ever seen in my life. If there was no crowd around it I would have never believed it's the famous pis statue! :) The statue is all of approx 1.5 feet tall in a corner of a small lane near the Grand Place.

Manneken pis is a famous figure, walking along the square. There are many gift shops in the whole street. Food stores, restaurants and bars can be visited. I have been there once when I was a child. Now it is the second time that I am very lucky. If you can Here on Valentine's Day or Christmas Eve, it feels like entering a dream. The street is very clean and night is romantic

It's an historic part of the cultural fabric here, and I've seen it many times during my time here and have read up on it's history, but I have no choice but to note this landmark as an enigmatic piece of the culture here that has somehow carved it's own niche. Really seems like it's really a testament to the idea of a artwork pulled from the "collective unconscious." How else can you explain the constant crowds? Or learning that this baby withstood some of Europe's most turbulent times?

While being a very curious piece of history and art. Location is a small corner and when I went they were trying to prepare him for the holidays and spend 2 hours and they still couldn't figure out how to decorate. Hopefully it will be fully done by now.
