Wat That Thong is a Thai Buddhist temple located in the heart of Bangkok that is not on most travellers itinerary, instead opting to see the more famous temples in Bangkok such as Wat Arun or Wat Pho (temple of the reclining Buddha). Wat That Thong was built in 1937, and sits where two previous Buddhist temples were once standing. The biggest attraction of Wat That Thong is the beautifully crafted statue of the golden Buddha, sitting in the lotus position.

Went for the winter fair held the temple. It was good fun with all the childhood shooting games and also a mini petting zoo. The food is good and the atmosphere is awesome. Very local and a good experience for a tourist.

Well maintained Budda temple. Good location to do meditation. Step out distance Ekammai BTS station. Bus facility is also good.

Nice and well kept temple that is located next to the Ekkamai BTS station. Poular with local Thais, but probably not of much interest to tourists.

Parkings can be difficult to find one especially late in the evening, despite the parking fee imposed. Parking coupons are available to those attend the ceremony, such as funeral. Traveling by public transportations such as BTS skytrain seems to be a better idea. This temple is a popular place for funeral ceremonies and it is no wonder this is one of the wealthiest in addition to the donations received. I once helped two tourists who went there in the evening by explaining that there was nothing to see at night and only funeral ceremonies were organized. It is also difficult to reserve for funeral ceremonies or organize group lunch for the monks, based on our experience, if one has no special connection with the temple.

Temple easily accessible by the BTS Sukhumvit line's Ekamai station. There was a temple fair over New Year's.
