It was built in the reign of King Rama IV who intended it to be a temple in the Dhammayutika Sect as well as to be one of the 3 major temples as required by an old tradition to be situated within the capital. The place was originally a royal coffee plantation in the reign of King Rama III.

One of the best kept secrets near the Royal Palace. The compact temple is a gem of King Rama V's early reign. The layout is well designed. The ordination hall features beautiful decorations and historic murals. The hall is open only on Buddhist holy days.

You don't normally have a chance to visit the Ubosot (the main building). However, if you have a chance, do not miss that precious opportunity. You can try to be there on Sunday or the days that the temple hold some events or ceremonies. The interesting bit is the sculpture on the doors. Unlike other temples, they have depth and they reflect the level of the abilities of the artist's.

This is a pretty little temple located near the Grand Palace and next to Saranrom Palace Park. It was being renovated when I visited, so I wasn't able to take it all in, but one thing that stood out, for me, was the roof tiles.

I didn't have the chance to go inside because it was closed at the time. There wasn't that much on the outside to see. Plenty of dogs barking on other side of the wall and one walking next to the temple.

It's one of three temples revered by ancient tradition to be situated within capital. The hall has a collection of interesting mural paintings depicting the 12 royal ceremonies and the legend of the solar eclipse phenomenon as memorial to king Rama IV's trip to observe the eclipse in 1968. Worth a visit.
