The Science Centre for Education is a government agency, established in 1992 to provide non-formal and in-formal education in science, technology, natural science, environmental science and astronomy. The center includes four main buildings, most notably the Planetarium, followed by the Natural Science building, Science Museum and Aquatic Life building. About a third of all displays have English descriptions. The old-fashioned semi-dome planetarium, which first opened its doors in 1964, has undergone a 92 million baht refurbishment. Unveiled in January 2016, this upgrade includes new digital projectorss, a digital theater system and aurora-themed decor. Viewers can enjoy stargazing with the new custom-built fish-eye lens, high-definition 360-degree visuals and 5.1 surround sound. English-language shows are held for non-Thai speakers every Tuesday at 10am (for an additional fee of 30 baht per child and 50 baht per adult).

Magnificent place, very interesting both for kids and adults. We could not see all exhibitions in 3 hours. Interactive and educative, even though most of the stuff is in Thai, the kids loved it. There are also very reasonably priced lunch options. Helpful staff. Highly recommended!

A good place for childhood memories. Usually most of people go there with their family and their kids. At 2nd building which is the main building, have a lot of science things that can play with at the 1st floor, so a lot of children there. Moreover, it has a cool short film about planets & space.

The Science Centre for Education is a science museum in Khlong Toei District, Bangkok, Thailand. It is located next to the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai) on Sukhumvit Road, and is a science exhibition centre. It includes an aquarium, a computer world, a planetarium, and workshops/devices intended for children. The Science Centre was established in 1992 by the merger of the Bangkok Planetarium which was established in 1964 and the Centre for Educational Museum which was established in 1976. The exhibition is divided into; - The Planetarium hall – the semi-dome planetarium is the most popular permanent fixture at Bangkok Science Museum. There are presentations shown inside the hall with topics changing every 2 months. - Exhibition hall 2 – exhibits the advancements of technologies in various fields, such as THEOS, Quickbird, Terra satellite, and more. - Exhibition hall 3 – exhibits aquatic life; rare fish, endangered fish, freshwater fish, and saltwater fish. - Exhibition hall 4 – exhibits the Dinosaur exhibition, the World of Insects exhibition, the Strange Life exhibition, and more. Many of the exhibits feature modern media and some include tests and experiments, with specific activity days available for students and the general public. Highlights include an interactive pirate ship, play supermarket and the world of insects, which are most popular with young children.
